Latin America is left-hand drive and altitude-sensitive, so the Andean countries take the 2.0T grades almost exclusively while the Caribbean and Central America buy the 1.5T on price.
Altitude divides this region as sharply as steering side divides Africa. La Paz sits above 3,600 m, Quito above 2,800 m, and Bogota above 2,600 m. A small turbo petrol engine loses meaningful output at those altitudes and a dual-clutch gearbox does not enjoy the sustained climbs; the 2.0T with the Aisin torque-converter automatic is the specification that survives the duty cycle. Andean dealers order it almost exclusively.
The Caribbean and Central America buy on price, which means the UNI-V 1.5T and the UNI-T 1.5T. Transit is the long pole here — 38 to 48 days to Kingston or Santo Domingo, usually containerised because the volumes are small and the paint matters on an island where every car is seen. Consolidating three UNI-V into a single 40HQ is the standard shipment on this lane.
Chile is the most demanding homologation regime in the region. A 3CV certificate is required before first registration, and it is worth building the timeline around because the review is not instant. Colombia needs a locally registered importer and its own Certificado de Conformidad; Peru and Bolivia accept a China-issued CoC with a local technical review, which is the fastest path into the Andes.
LHD across the region (Guyana, Suriname and Jamaica are RHD exceptions)
Chile requires a homologation certificate from 3CV before first registration. Colombia requires an INVIMA-registered importer and a Certificado de Conformidad. Peru and Bolivia accept a China CoC with a local technical review.

Ro-Ro from Shanghai to Callao and Valparaiso runs 32-42 days via the Panama Canal. Caribbean ports (Kingston, Santo Domingo) are 38-48 days and usually containerised.
The UNI-T 2.0T. Its 171 kW (233 PS) NE2.0T holds output at altitude far better than the 138 kW 1.5T, and the Aisin 8-speed torque-converter automatic handles long gravel climbs and crawling traffic that heat a dual-clutch. Above roughly 2,000 m we do not recommend the 1.5T grades for commercial duty, regardless of the price difference.
