Changan UNI export questions and answers
12 questions, answered directly. If the answer is no — and for right-hand drive and used vehicles it is — that is stated plainly rather than buried in a qualification.
What is the MOQ for Changan UNI export orders?
- One unit. There is no minimum order quantity for a Ro-Ro shipment of a Changan UNI-T or UNI-V, because Ro-Ro is priced per vehicle slot, not per container. Container shipping only becomes cheaper per unit at two vehicles (40HQ, UNI-T) or three (40HQ, UNI-V), so if you are ordering containerised we will quote both and let you pick. Fleet pricing tiers begin at 10 units and improve again at 30 and 100 units.
Which Changan UNI models are available in right-hand drive?
- None of the UNI models are built in right-hand drive at Chongqing today — the UNI-T, UNI-V and UNI-V iDD are all factory left-hand drive. Changan produces right-hand-drive vehicles at its Rayong plant in Thailand, which is the group nominated base for all global RHD models, and RHD UNI allocation is quoted on request against that plant schedule. We will not sell you a converted RHD car; conversions void the factory warranty and fail PVoC inspection in Kenya and Tanzania.
How long does shipping to Mombasa, Lagos or Jebel Ali take?
- Jebel Ali is 18-25 days, Mombasa is 28-38 days and Lagos is 35-45 days, all by Ro-Ro from Shanghai. Add the production lead time before that: 25-35 days for the 1.5T grades, 30-40 days for the 2.0T, and 35-45 days for the UNI-V iDD because the traction battery needs UN38.3 transport documentation. Rail to Almaty and Tashkent is much faster at 12-18 days door to door.
What payment terms do you accept?
- A 30% telegraphic transfer deposit against a signed proforma invoice, with the 70% balance against a copy bill of lading. We also accept an irrevocable letter of credit at sight from a prime bank, and 100% TT in advance at a discount. We do not accept open account, escrow platforms, or cryptocurrency. The deposit is what books your production slot, so the lead-time clock starts on cleared funds, not on the signed PI.
Are the vehicles brand new, and how do I verify that before paying the balance?
- Every unit is 0 km CBU straight from the Chongqing line, and you verify it with a third-party inspection before the balance is due. We book SGS, Intertek or Bureau Veritas at the loading yard at your cost (roughly USD 180-320 per unit), and the report covers VIN, odometer, paint thickness, undercarriage and a photographic record. Where the destination requires a Pre-Export Verification of Conformity anyway, that same inspection produces the CoC.
What warranty applies to an exported Changan UNI, and who honours it?
- Three years or 100,000 km on the vehicle, eight years or 150,000 km on the UNI-V iDD traction battery, honoured by the appointed Changan distributor in your market. If your country has no appointed distributor yet, the warranty is handled as a parts-credit arrangement: we ship replacement parts free of charge against an approved claim and you carry the labour. Parts supply for the UNI line is guaranteed for ten years from the build date.
Do you supply the homologation documents my customs authority requires?
- Yes — tell us the destination country on the enquiry and the correct certificate is arranged before loading, not after. We routinely issue SONCAP for Nigeria, PVoC for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, SABER for Saudi Arabia, ECAS for the UAE, and EAC (TR CU 018/2011) for the Eurasian Economic Union. Documents that must be issued in-country, such as a Nigerian Form M or a Vietnamese type-approval, remain the importer responsibility and we supply everything they depend on.
Should I ship Ro-Ro or in a container?
- Ro-Ro costs less and suits one or two units; a 40HQ container costs more per sailing but protects the paint and is cheaper per unit from three UNI-V or two UNI-T. We quote both on every proforma invoice. Choose container if the destination port has a pilferage record (Lagos, Conakry), if the cars are a high-value 2.0T or iDD grade, or if the vehicles are going onward by rail. Choose Ro-Ro for volume 1.5T orders into Mombasa, Jebel Ali or Callao.
Can you supply SKD or CKD kits for local assembly?
- SKD kits are available for the UNI-T 1.5T and UNI-V 1.5T from a 100-unit annual commitment; full CKD is a factory-level agreement negotiated directly with Changan. SKD is how importers in Ethiopia, Kazakhstan and Egypt cut the import duty that applies to a complete built-up vehicle, and the kit ships as body-in-white plus painted panels, driveline and trim across two 40HQ containers per unit set. We will introduce you to the Changan international business unit for anything beyond SKD.
What is the difference between the UNI-T and the UNI-V?
- The UNI-T is a 4,535 mm coupe SUV and the UNI-V is a 4,680 mm fastback sedan; they share the Blue Whale engine family but nothing else that matters commercially. Buy the UNI-T where buyers want ride height, a 1,565 mm roofline and 1,050 L of folded load space — dealer showrooms, government pools, unpaved roads. Buy the UNI-V where the customer wants a low silhouette, a 380 L boot and lower fuel burn — ride-hailing, corporate sedan fleets, airport transfer.
Do you sell used or refurbished Changan UNI vehicles?
- No. We supply 0 km factory units only. Used and so-called zero-mileage-used Chinese vehicles are widely offered for export and they are a warranty and homologation trap: most destination markets that we serve either ban used-vehicle imports outright or apply an age-based duty penalty, and no used unit can carry a valid factory warranty. If your budget needs a used car, we are the wrong supplier and will say so rather than waste your deposit.
How do I get a proforma invoice?
- Send the model, quantity, destination port and steering requirement and you get a proforma invoice the same working day. The PI states FOB and CIF side by side, names the inspection body, fixes the lead time, and lists exactly which homologation certificate is included. Message any of the sales team on WhatsApp or use the enquiry form on any model page — both reach the same desk.
