Markets we export Changan UNI vehicles to

Six regions, and the first question in every one of them is the same: which side does the market drive on? Every Changan UNI built at Chongqing is left-hand drive, so the left-hand-drive regions below — West Africa, the GCC, Central Asia, most of Latin America — are direct matches, while the right-hand-drive markets must be served from Changan’s Rayong plant in Thailand. After that it is conformity certification and transit time, both of which differ enough between regions to have their own page.

Every Changan UNI model we export is left-hand drive, so East and Southern Africa splits cleanly: Ethiopia, DR Congo and Angola take our LHD stock directly, while Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia are right-hand-drive markets that must be supplied from Changan Thailand rather than Chongqing.

Countries
Ethiopia · Kenya · Tanzania · Uganda · Zambia · Angola · DR Congo
Steering side
Mixed — Ethiopia, DR Congo and Angola are LHD; Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia are RHD
Conformity
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda require a Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) certificate issued before shipment; we book the inspection with SGS or Intertek at the Chongqing yard and the CoC travels with the documents. Ethiopia requires COMESA-compliant documentation and a pre-shipment inspection.
Shipping
Ro-Ro via Shanghai or Guangzhou to Mombasa and Dar es Salaam runs 28-38 days. Container (40HQ, 2-3 units) via Djibouti serves Ethiopia in about 30 days.

Kenya Bureau of Standards — PVoC programme

West Africa is almost entirely left-hand drive, which makes it the strongest natural fit for the Changan UNI line-up as built in Chongqing — no conversion, no Thailand allocation, no waiting list.

Countries
Nigeria · Ghana · Senegal · Ivory Coast · Cameroon · Benin
Steering side
LHD across the region — direct match for factory UNI-T and UNI-V stock
Conformity
Nigeria operates the SONCAP scheme and requires a Product Certificate before a Form M is cleared. Ghana requires a Conformity Assessment certificate. Both accept a China-issued CoC from an accredited inspection body, which we arrange before loading.
Shipping
Ro-Ro from Shanghai to Lagos (Tin Can Island), Tema and Abidjan runs 35-45 days. Containerised 40HQ shipments are common for 3-unit UNI-V orders because of pilferage risk on the Ro-Ro decks.

Standards Organisation of Nigeria — SONCAP

The GCC is a left-hand-drive, hot-climate market with the shortest transit of anywhere we ship — Jebel Ali is 18 to 25 days from Shanghai — so we quote the 2.0T grades with the uprated cooling pack rather than the 1.5T volume trim.

Countries
UAE · Saudi Arabia · Oman · Qatar · Kuwait · Iraq · Jordan
Steering side
LHD across the GCC and Levant
Conformity
Saudi Arabia requires a SABER Product Certificate of Conformity plus a Shipment Certificate before customs release. The UAE requires ECAS registration through ESMA. GCC-spec glass tinting limits and air-conditioning capacity are checked at inspection.
Shipping
Ro-Ro from Shanghai to Jebel Ali runs 18-25 days — the shortest transit of any market we serve. Dammam and Sohar add 3-5 days.

Saudi Standards (SASO) — SABER conformity platform

Central Asia is the fastest-growing destination for the UNI-V, and it is served by rail rather than sea — the China-Europe block train reaches Almaty in 12 to 18 days against 45 days or more for any sea route.

Countries
Kazakhstan · Uzbekistan · Kyrgyzstan · Azerbaijan · Georgia · Armenia
Steering side
LHD across the region
Conformity
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia are in the Eurasian Economic Union and require an EAC (TR CU 018/2011) certificate plus a Vehicle Passport (PTS/EPTS) before registration. Uzbekistan applies its own O`zDSt conformity scheme.
Shipping
Rail block train from Chongqing via Khorgos to Almaty and Tashkent: 12-18 days, 2-3 units per 40HQ container. Road-feeder onward to Bishkek and Dushanbe adds 3-5 days.

Eurasian Economic Commission — TR CU 018/2011 vehicle safety regulation

ASEAN splits by steering side, and it is the one region where the UNI-V iDD outsells the petrol cars because several countries give plug-in hybrids a large import-duty and excise advantage.

Countries
Vietnam · Cambodia · Laos · Philippines · Myanmar · Indonesia · Thailand
Steering side
Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines and Myanmar are LHD; Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia are RHD and must be supplied from Changan Rayong
Conformity
Vietnam requires a type-approval certificate from the Vietnam Register (VR) and a batch inspection on arrival. The Philippines requires a Certificate of Conformity from the Bureau of Product Standards. NEV duty relief for the iDD is assessed against the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement rules of origin.
Shipping
Ro-Ro from Guangzhou to Haiphong, Sihanoukville and Manila runs 8-16 days. Container is standard for the iDD because the traction battery adds dangerous-goods paperwork that most Ro-Ro operators surcharge.

Vietnam Register — imported motor vehicle type approval

Latin America is left-hand drive and altitude-sensitive, so the Andean countries take the 2.0T grades almost exclusively while the Caribbean and Central America buy the 1.5T on price.

Countries
Peru · Bolivia · Chile · Colombia · Dominican Republic · Guatemala · Panama
Steering side
LHD across the region (Guyana, Suriname and Jamaica are RHD exceptions)
Conformity
Chile requires a homologation certificate from 3CV before first registration. Colombia requires an INVIMA-registered importer and a Certificado de Conformidad. Peru and Bolivia accept a China CoC with a local technical review.
Shipping
Ro-Ro from Shanghai to Callao and Valparaiso runs 32-42 days via the Panama Canal. Caribbean ports (Kingston, Santo Domingo) are 38-48 days and usually containerised.

Is your country not on the list?

The regions above are where we ship regularly enough to have current, first-hand knowledge of the paperwork. We quote outside them too — send the destination and we will confirm the conformity regime before issuing the proforma invoice rather than guess at it.
